While there is nothing dramatic to report, for our own reference, and anyone else interested, our present camp, on a farm in a very rural but scenic part of France. The camp is very peaceful and beautifully presented.
Our travel trajectory has been south east. trying to stay off major roads, though not always successfully. The previous night saw us close to the small city of Angouleme. En route we passed a magnificent castle/chateau, that Jen managed to capture some of, though the surrounding vegetation. We cannot find a name for it.

Bergerac.

Spending last night in a barely maintained but very popular, Municipal camp, beside the Dordogne river, across the river from the city of Bergerac. Most of the travellers and fellow campers are Dutch and Germans, in lavish campervans.
It rained a bit this morning meaning the Caranex was rolled up wet. Driving back into the city saw us parking for no charge in the city and exploring the historic parts on foot. It’s gorgeous and will try and reflect something of what we saw in photos.

Hollyhocks, they grow through cracks in the pavement but Jen can’t grow them with loving care..:)

A modern statue of Cyrano de Bergerac, a 17th century playwright & duelist.

A very modern oven with a fresh batch of delicious Pain au Chocolat waiting to be snapped up.
This evening we have been playing several YouTube episodes of ‘The Revolution’ in 1880’s France, on The Rest is History. Just one of the brilliant subjects these two explore in minute detail. Are we building for another uprising?
Wednesday.

Such sweet, tame little birds, the Robin.
What a spectacular part of the world, we are in! Around every corner a castle or chateau of amazing design or proportions. Down narrow winding roads with a river on one side of the road and towering cliffs with a chateau above, on the other.

The only downside, the weather. It rained during the night and today, at 4pm, we have just pulled into another camp, this time in Souillac. It’s raining again.
I guess you could say we are now in the South of France, but still some distance from the ocean.
I know there will be concern. Thank you for that but Poki, our Land Rover, is going beautifully,. But of course it is..:) You wouldn’t expect anything less..:
Thursday
Drizzle during the night and our waterproofed Caranex is dealing with moisture, a little better.
We’re heading for the historic and scenic town of Rocamadour. Jen will detail it in the next episode.

Just caught up with your blog again. What are you two going to do when you get old(er)? I can see a pair of very distinctive goffers (mobility scooters) terrorising the old folks home. Be interested to hear what the over fuelling fix was.
Hi Bro, getting old, doesn’t bare thinking about, does it..:) Got another 20 years to worry about it..:) Anyway, when are you going to give up?..:)
Ah! the over-fuelling solution. Will have to discuss it, offline..:) More importantly, have just solved a rattle that has been bugging me for the last couple of years. Always progress huh!
Some of theses Dordogne towns are spectacularly beautiful. Time to bring the Isuzu over.
Bergerac looks lovely, but as Poki is running so well, if you get a wiggle on you could make it to LeMans for the 24 hour event and even stay for the entire 5 days.
What say you Jen ;-))
Hi Mel,
great to hear from you. Funny, there must be telepathy at play. There was a Caterham parked in the car park yesterday, and I gave the older owner a knowing wink, on your behalf..:) What a weapon it would/could be!..:)
Now, that would be more fun at Le Mans..:)
Will see if Jen will allow me to insert the pic it in her next blog entry!!
Have a great time in France! I still check in from time to time (but don’t post comments) after spotting a UK reg Landrover at the tourist information in Sackville, NB in 2019 when I went there to have my lunch, but ended up having a lovely chat with you and Jen prior to having my lunch. All the best to you and Jen and your future adventures!
Hi! Jessica…well, well, what a lovely surprise to hear from you. I have to admit that my memory is not as good as yours, so I just had to recap and here’s what I found….
Next minute a young lady pops her head around the back door of the Land Rover, excited about seeing a British registered vehicle in Canada. I think we could have chatted the whole afternoon about my second favourite subject. Jessica Anderson-Hudson has recently arrived from the UK to lecture at a local university. A Brexit exile?..:) Of course the spectre of a Johnson administration was soon under discussion. I asked Jessica what she was lecturing in? “Political Science” was the response. While she would not be drawn too much on her political beliefs she was close to the Swedish model of Social Democracy. I bet she has fun with her students. Crafting the conscience of the next generation in Eastern Canada. Great stuff Jessica. I hope you found time to eat your lunch before the next lecture…:)
How about filling us in on your political science journey, given soooo much has happened on THAT subject, since we spoke. 😂
