Camping Olspur was a delightful camp site. The facilities are second to none. As in most camp sites in Austria and Germany, cleanliness and operability is assured.
Our plan to not use toll roads payed off handsomely today. The countryside is spectacular, scenery wise. Magnificent forests, lakes and rivers. We have both tried to capture some of the beauty, but none of the photos do it real justice. I in particular are guilty of not stopping and composing a photo. It’s usually shot out of the window, and while on the move. Jen’s always saying “slow down”!
A minor nightmare!
While stopping in a village this afternoon, the fob on the car key ring failed to deactivate the immobiliser. The result, we could’t start the car!! It’s been troublesome on and off for some time. There is a broken wire inside the fob that usually needs me to split the plastic holder and bend a wire to touch another.
I decided to fix it for once and for all, so got out the gas soldering gun, and effect repair. BIG mistake. I ended up overheating the tension in a spring. I tried using superglue, to no avail. It’s a tiny part and by holding the parts between my fingers, managed to get the immobiliser on the dashboard, to deactivate…whew! I do have an idea though. Maybe a spring from a plastic retractable ball point pen may substitute? Didn’t Buzz Aldrin use a plastic pen on one of the space shuttles to effect a similar repair to get the space capsule back to earth??
That’s for now, but what happens when that fails??? Watch this space…:) I managed it again after stopping for lunch. The precise wee pieces are stored in my camera bag, for safety. I decided not to give them to Jen to look after. She took my NZ SIM card from me, telling me you’ll only loose it!!!….and she lost it!!!…:)

The TomTom did a great job of keeping us off the pay roads and motorways, that is till we needed to find a camp for the night. A slight misunderstanding as to which turn to take, ended up forcing us onto a motorway and it took 45 minutes to get off it and return to the offending junction…!! Damn. This is the second such event in a few days. So, while we didn’t progress our journey for the day greatly, it was a beautiful days driving. For good reason, the motorways have vacuumed the traffic up and the minor roads are nearly unused. The end result, about 200k’s for the day.

We are surrounded by caravans. Germany and Dutch. There are a lovely German family next door and their son, I suspect 16 years old, is learning English in school. In no time he was reading our blog …in German!!! How did he do that. I didn’t write it in German???..:)

A bit of Lenny in the fix it department methinks. Mind you, his fix would probably involved a hammer! Can you not get a generic fob and have it keyed to Poki? I got one for the Mitzi from a key cutting shop. Thats pretty expensive camping bro, but I guess convenience is worth it, maybe. Good luck with the key.
