It’s another hot, cloudless morning. It has been one of those days when some things just don’t go right, but others do. We started the day in the camp cafe overlooking the lake. Dennis finishing the blog, while I enjoyed a coffee, the first since leaving home. Delicious!
Getting Poki’s back wheels balanced
The helpful campsite owner had given Dennis details of a garage that could balance Poki’s back wheels. We headed there, but they were unable to do it. They did, however, give us the name of another garage that could and so we set of there. Yes, they could do the job, but not immediately. We would have to come back at 1 pm. It was 11.30 so we wondered what to do for an hour and a half. We set off to look for a cafe, but found a large Decathlon store. They specialise in camping and outdoor activities and have a great selection on offer. Dennis bought a cap and some socks!
We then noticed a large Auchan supermarket sign. As we needed more provisions, off we went. Check out only had one til open and was extremely slow. Instead of wasting time, we were now under pressure to get back to the garage by 1 pm. We arrived at about 10 past 1. Work on another vehicle was still going on, but in about 5 minutes that was completed and they started on Poki. The passenger side rear wheel was seriously unbalanced, but the driver side not too bad, 60 Zloti, about £12, later we were back on the road and heading to Wroclaw.
Tedious Journey
This was a nightmare journey. Continuous trucks, heavy traffic and constant stopping and starting all the way to Wroclaw, a distance of about 75 kilometres. It was around 4 pm before we found parking. After a parking machine which refused to let us pay for more than 5 minutes parking, we noticed a large open air car park with an attendant close by. We parked there with no problem.

Our first stop was a cafe for a drink and a bowl of sweet potato chips, to stave off hunger pangs. We had had no time to stop for a lunch break. Next we wandered around the pedestrianised old town. Lots of huts selling handicrafts, specialist foods and drinks were everywhere. The town hall is the most impressive building, The old houses are very attractive too. Hanseatic architecture. Wroclaw was connected to the vast network of Hanseatic trade. It played a vital role in moving Central European goods to the coastal ports.

Looking for Camping
Time was getting on, so we needed to find camping. The Sat-Nav found a nearby site, but when we arrived there, there was no camp site to be seen. Very frustrating. I found another online and we set off again, in heavy rush hour traffic. This time we were successful. It’s quite a nice, but busy camp and we are next to a French Camping Club group. There are about 12/15 camper vans and they have been sitting around in a circle next to us. They are celebrating someone’s birthday and having a jolly, but noisy time.
It’s now nearly 10.30 and peace reigns, so we are about to retire. Tomorrow we’ll continue south east through Poland heading for the Slovakian border. We’ll be taking by a main road, rather than a motorway!
