A tragic end.

We have been following a young Canadian couple who set up an old Toyota 4×4 for overland travel several years ago. They have been exploring many remote locations of the world, recording their experiences on YouTube, under ‘Toyota World Runners’. We were particularly interested in their South American experiences.

Heartfelt message

This morning, in my WhatsApp inbox, a message from Sarah, currently in Peru with her family, to say they this young couple were killed in an accident in their home territory of British Columbia.

It was only the past southern summer that they had traveled the lesser roads in New Zealand. I’m going to add the link here to their journey, as it is perhaps the best cinematic journey I have seen. Click on it and enjoy the ride.

A story of their journey

I hope the constructors of this video don’t mind us including it.

Travel well you two, and thank you for the stories.

  1. Nice tribute Dad. We are still in shock. So sad, their episode of driving the 3N here in Peru was a contributing factor for us doing the same drive. We did & it was incredible. Gone way too young.

  2. I have been following them for years and was shocked when I heard about their tragic end. They died far too young but doing what they loved together.

    • Hi! Phil, thanks for your comment. I had lost track of them, and BlueLandy, since heading to South America, but like you, and so many others, enjoyed their content. The camera work and drone footage, along with voice-over, was very professional. Personal interaction, beautiful.

      Where is the Phil&Co equivalent?…:)

    • Hi Sarah, thanks for that. I couldn’t help thinking, that their rock crawling in the south Island, gave them another motivation and direction? There is sometimes very little room for error. The grandeur of B.C. proved fatal.
You lot, be careful out there.

      No driving Bruce up Popocatepetl..:)
